The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for GEinCEE CoP signed

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for establishing the Community of Practice for Gender Equality in Central and Eastern Europe ‘On the way to Gender Equality’ (GEinCEE CoP) has been signed by the ACT project Coordinator, The Foundation for the Open University of Catalonia (FUOC), the ACT seed partner, Jagiellonian University in Krakow and by 14 organisations. These organisations include: Vilnius University, Lithuanian Social Research Centre, Šiauliai University, Masaryk University, Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, Frederick University, University of Wroclaw, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, National Information Processing Institute, University of Gdańsk, Cracow University of Technology, University of Łódź, Diversity Hub Foundation and Gdańsk University of Technology.

The GEinCEE CoP’s gathers practitioners - representatives of higher education institutions (HEIs), research centres, research funding organizations (RFOs), and policy-making organizations operating mainly in Central and Eastern European countries, who commit to institutional change to advance gender equality in their organizations The CoP’s vision is to promote and support designing, introducing and monitoring gender equality measures and Gender Equality Plans in the member organisations.

Therefore its mission is to:
1. learn and exchange knowledge and expertise, by mainly: familiarising with institutional solutions implemented in other organizations to achieve gender equality, as well as with strategies used to argue for introducing GE measures and to create a favorable climate toward gender equality with consideration of specificity of the CEE context;
2. diagnose situation in relation to gender equality at CoP’s members organizations by collecting existing solutions/measures and policies and by evaluation of successes, failures, and (un)intended effects of undertaken actions.

During the forthcoming meeting in Vilnius (20.11.2019) we will learn about the status of gender equality in Lithuanian universities, plan the usage of the Gender Equality Audit and Monitoring tool (GEAM, an online, modular questionnaire to measure and benchmark progress towards gender equality) and participate in a workshop at the European Institute for Gender Equality. This will be another meeting where we network, exchange knowledge about gender equality issues in research and academia and discuss the specificity of the CEE region in this regard.

New members are welcome, so if you would like to join the GEinCEE CoP or just learn more about its activities, do not hesitate to contact us at actongender@uj.edu.pl.
