GEinCEE Community of Practice has new members

In the autumn of 2022, the GEinCEE Community of Practice was expanded by the addition of two Polish institutions that signed the Memorandum of Understanding: the University of Rzeszów and the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The University of Rzeszów is the largest higher education institution in southeast Poland, with almost 16,000 students. In June 2022, the rector of the university signed a gender equality plan (in Polish), in addition to regulations that appoint a new rector’s plenipotentiary for equal treatment, Dr Dorota Semków and the first academic ombudsman, Dr Jan Gałkowski. The rector also appointed an equal treatment committee, which will support the plenipotentiary to implement the gender equality plan.

The Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences conducts research on subjects as diverse as the history of Polish literature, comparative literature, literary theory, linguistics, cultural studies, and gender studies. The aim of one project, Archive of Women, is to create a database and a digital archive of unpublished manuscripts of women who have lived in the area of historic Poland from the 16th century to the present. The gender equality plan of the Institute was signed in January 2022.

Both new members boast the prestigious logo, HR Excellence in Research, which is awarded by the European Commission. This distinction is granted to institutions that contribute to making the working conditions of researchers in the European Union more attractive, and provide employees with a transparent recruitment process, stability of employment, and career development opportunities.
